Under the slogan “The Mediterranean Hub for World Music,” Marseille hosted Babel Music XP from March 19th to 21st. As one of the most significant world music festivals and the successor to the former Babel Med Music, the event saw the Croatian scene represented by Emir Fulurija on behalf of the We Move Music Croatia, continuing the mission of opening new European avenues for domestic music projects.
The three-day program at the former tobacco factory Friche la Belle de Mai fwas ocused on professional networking and a conference segment, alongside a series of concerts showcasing the highlights of current global production. The festival gathers numerous artistic directors and bookers, particularly from the Francophone and Mediterranean markets, making it a key location for artist placement.
“We have been present at Babel since last year, and the impression is that our artists definitely have a place in this market. There is a genuine interest in music from our region – Balkalar (https://wemovemusic.hr/artists/balkalar), for instance, already has a major French agent, and in conversations with colleagues, interest in our other projects has been confirmed as well,” stated Fulurija.
