The Strange are a Croatian-international rock band originally formed in 2004 as a collaboration between the acclaimed Croatian surf-rock band The Bambi Molesters and American singer-songwriter Chris Eckman of The Walkabouts. They first came together to record the album Nights of Forgotten Films, blending instrumental surf-rock with atmospheric vocals and Americana influences, a project that quickly gained critical acclaim and cult status.

After a long pause, The Strange returned with new material, releasing the single “Last Summer Song” in 2018 and later the album Echo Chamber, recorded with producer Don Antonio and audio engineer Phill Brown in Prague, Zagreb and Ljubljana. Their expanded lineup has included members from The Bambi Molesters and My Buddy Moose, along with brass musicians such as trumpeter Andrej Jakuš and saxophonist Ozren Žnidarić.

The group has earned recognition beyond Croatia, winning awards and support aimed at promoting domestic music internationally and performing at major venues and festivals. Their music spans indie rock, garage, baroque pop and alternative styles, and they are seen as one of the country’s credible rock exports.
