Mate Ponjević is a Zagreb-based Croatian musician and songwriter, known for his work in bands such as Fire In Cairo and Pitaj klince, as well as his earlier solo output under the pseudonym Matilda. He is active on the independent Croatian music scene, where he has developed a style that moves between indie rock, pop, and experimental influences.
His debut solo album Sve na Orfanele (2025), released via JeboTon, draws on his previous band experience while combining eclectic genre elements and introspective, often emotionally direct songwriting. The album presents a mix of playful experimentation and more structured pop sensibilities, reflecting his evolving artistic identity.
With this release, Ponjević positions himself as part of the contemporary Croatian indie scene, continuing to explore different musical directions through both collaboration and solo work.
