Magul is an alternative rock band from Šibenik, Croatia, formed in 2015 as a new project by musician Ante Prgin. From the outset, the band established a distinctive sound that blends elements of funk rock, post-rock, and experimental influences, often drawing loose comparisons to acts like Faith No More.
The original lineup, Ante Prgin (vocals, guitar), Božidar Bilušić (bass), and Rino Miorin (drums) developed their music through a highly intuitive and independent process, recording and producing material outside of traditional industry frameworks. Their early work culminated in a self-produced debut album, released without a formal label, reflecting their DIY approach and creative autonomy.
Magul’s music is characterized by its refusal to conform to radio-friendly formats, instead focusing on artistic exploration, dynamic structures, and a balance between raw energy and atmospheric depth. Lyrics are written in English, reinforcing the band’s ambition to reach audiences beyond the local scene.
Following lineup changes, the band evolved toward a more contemporary and sonically layered direction, incorporating electronic elements and studio-driven production techniques, as heard on their later releases such as Magul 2.
With a strong emphasis on authenticity and experimentation, Magul positions itself as a forward-thinking act within the Croatian alternative landscape, driven by the idea of pushing beyond local boundaries and connecting with a wider international audience.
