Chui is an up-and-coming young quartet from Croatia that has developed its own rather unique take on jazz. Their all-star line-up brings together four of the top cats on the Croatian scene: Toni Starešinić – keyboards & electronica, Vojkan Jocić – sax & electronica, Ivan Levačić – drums, Konrad Lovrenčić – bass.

So far, Chui has performed at all major jazz and rock festivals in Croatia and beyond in Europe, including the INmusic festival, Dimensions festival, Ferragosto Jam, Liburnia Jazz festival, Jazz Time Rijeka, Koprivnica Fest Jazza, Žedno Uho, ZEZ, Dubrovnik summer games, BUSH (Budapest, Hungary), Eurosonic Noorderslag (Groningen, Netherlands), Kaunas Bienall (Kaunas, Lithuania), Klang der digne (Berlin, Germany), L’Aeronef (Lille, France), MENT (Ljubljana, Slovenia)…

Chui performed as the opening act for Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood (us), Etienne Mbappé & Su La Take (cam & fra), DKV Trio Hamid Drake, Ken Vandermark & ​​Kent Kessler (us), Colin Stetson (can), ADHD (isl), Moon Hooch (us), Volcan Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Giovanni Hidalgo, Jose Gola & Horacio Hernandez (Cuba) Tarana (us)… Chui recorded six studio albums: Chui 2012., The Second Arrival 2013. Third sun from the stone 2015., Chui ovu glazbu (feat. Croatian national television Jazz orchestra) 2017., Iz kapetanovog dnevnika 2019., Zagreb Berlin 2022.

Chui composed and performed live music in theaters for theater plays (Hairy Hairy Mouth by Psilicone Theatre – first performed @Kaunas Bienall) and movies (Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis by Walter Ruttmann 1927. – performed live in cinemas and film festivals). Chui won 7 Porin awards (Croatian Grammy) including best jazz albumbest jazz performance, best instrumental album, best instrumental performance, best album cover and 6 Rock&Off awards (Croatian independent music journalist & critic award) for album of the year, the live act of the year, and four times jazz performer of the year.
