Amira Medunjanin is a Bosnian singer widely recognized as one of the leading voices of sevdah — the traditional folk music of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Often described as a “Balkan Billie Holiday,” she brings a deeply emotional and contemporary interpretation to the centuries-old songs of her homeland.
Born in Sarajevo, Amira began her musical journey performing traditional sevdalinka songs, eventually developing a unique style that blends Balkan folk heritage with elements of jazz, classical, and world music. Her expressive voice and minimalist arrangements have introduced sevdah to international audiences, earning her acclaim across Europe and beyond.
Over the years, she has released several acclaimed albums including Rosa (2005), Zumra (2010), Silk & Stone (2014), Ascending (2018), and For Him and Her (2020). In 2025, she released her latest single Svitanje under Garden of Dreams Records, continuing to expand the sound and reach of sevdah.
