The April series of international activities for the We Move Music Croatia office began in Budapest. Participation in the Classical:NEXT and Budapest Ritmo events opened a series of visits aimed at strengthening the visibility of Croatian music.

Fresh Perspectives at Classical:NEXT 2026

This year, WMMC joined the Classical:NEXT community for the first time, marking its debut at one of the world’s premier platforms for classical and art music. This provided direct access to a network of professionals shaping new models for the presentation and distribution of classical music, with an emphasis on audience development and future business and creative practices. Dialogue with industry leaders opened doors for a more strategic positioning of Croatian projects within international programs—a vital step in securing a permanent place for domestic artists on relevant European stages.

Expanding the world music network at Budapest Ritmo 2026

The visit to the Budapest Ritmo conference and showcase festival was focused on further connecting the Croatian world music scene with relevant international professionals. This engagement builds on the momentum started at Babel XP and serves as crucial preparation for the upcoming WOMEX – the world’s largest trade fair and conference event dedicated to the world music genre.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening relations with partners from UPBEAT – The European Showcase Network for World Music, a platform that counts SHIP as a partner and directly supports the Budapest Ritmo showcase program. This collaboration further encourages the mobility of domestic performers and opens up space for their presentation within the network of the most important European world music festivals.

The potential of the local scene in an international context was confirmed by Tondini, who successfully showcased her sound with a DJ set at the House of Music Hungary.

To help international partners discover our scene, we actively promoted the Outethnic Croatia publication. It serves as a comprehensive overview of Croatian world music artists, festivals, and concert programs, designed as a key guide for international bookers and festivals seeking the authentic sound of Croatia.
