KANDŽIJA

Kandžija is the stage name of Croatian rapper Stjepko Galović from Osijek, known for his sharp lyricism, humor, and socially aware storytelling. Emerging from the Slavonian hip-hop scene in the early 2000s, he built a signature style that blends hip-hop with elements of funk, rock, and alternative music.

Kandžija’s career took off with his debut album Narodnjaci (2009), which immediately established his reputation as a lyricist who wasn’t afraid to tackle the absurdities of Croatian society. However, it was his collaboration with the backing band Gole Žene (The Naked Women) that redefined his sound. Together, they brought an explosive, funk-infused energy to live performances, culminating in the critically acclaimed 2015 album Nema Labavo. This record is often cited as a turning point, featuring hits like “Đuro” and “Donji Miholjac,” which became anthems of local irony.
